Micheal Chapman was born in London. He is the only son of Henry, a member of Scotland yard, and Mary Chapman. He has an older sister, who died at the age of 21 in a car-accident. Michael Chapman finished school at the age of 18 and entered the police forces. At the age of 27 he married his wife Julie. They have no children. In London, Michael became a famous and successful inspector until he was badly injured by a bank robber. After a long time  hospital he was finally back to work again.

A few weeks ago he was sent to Great Stapleton, because his boss thought Chapman should work in a more quiet town.
